It is October and you know what that means – Halloween. October is the only month where absolutely everything is pumpkin flavored and there are tons of different places to go and many activities to do.
First off, there is always everyone’s favorite theme park, Six Flags Great Adventure. Every year during the month of October, they hold a “Fright Fest” where there are tons of scary things to do: entertaining Halloween shows, hay rides, corn mazes, and haunted trails. Not to mention, all the workers are dressed up as scary characters who chase you around. They even fill their main water fountain with red water to symbolize blood.
“Fright fest is so fun! I love it! You get to go on rides, and the workers that are dressed up as zombies freak you out. It’s honestly the best part of the Halloween season,” said sophmore Kirsten Pasewaldt.
There are also many haunted houses to visit. Almost every town has them around the fall season. The most popular one is the Eastern State Penitentiary in Pennsylvania. It used to be a prison from 1829 until 1971 when it then became abandoned. “Terror Behind the Walls” is an annual haunted house attraction to preserve the prison. Many people believe the prison is legitmately haunted.
Another fun site is the Field of Terror, which is a haunted house, but also includes a hay ride. This attraction is less expensive than the Eastern State Penitentiary. It is also long and very well laid out, better than regular town haunted houses. They also have 3D mazes that are really interesting and frightening.
Now, we cannot forget about Mischief Night. It is an annual tradition where people play pranks on their neighbors. Some pranks include egging houses, teepeeing, and forging lawns, but these pranks will get you in trouble.
“Mischief night is my favorite night of October. It’s so much fun and I like to see the pranks that people come up with!” said sophmore Alexa Sumergido.
The whole purpose of Halloween is, of course, getting candy and dressing up. Trick-or-treating is the best part for children, teenagers, even adults.
It’s safe to say that October is by far the most exciting month of the year.
