Unfortunately, 2015 is coming to a close. This year was filled with many stand-out moments from internet trends to making movie history. To recount the year, here are 10 of the most iconic moments of 2015.

Black and gold dress: The viral photo and meme of “the dress” became popular on February 26. It all started with a washed-out photograph of a dress that was posted on Tumblr, and a dispute over whether the dress pictured was blue and black or white and gold erupted on social media.

Zayn leaving One Direction: In my opinion, this was the saddest day of this year. March 25 is the day many teen hearts were shattered. On this day, Zayn Malik left One Direction after five years of being together. This caused a massive amount of drama in the fandom, but we have slowly gotten through it.

Kylie Jenner lip challenge: After Jenner came out and told the world she had lip injections in April, the media went a little crazy and wanted to make themselves look like her. The challenge was to make your lips bigger by putting a shot glass to your lips and sucking the air out. However, not everyone got the results they wanted.

Whip, Nae Nae: You already know what it is! The song “Watch Me” was released on June 25. Two dance moves evolved from this radio hit – “the whip,” and “the nae nae.” At this point, we all skip this song when it comes on, but le’ts be real, we were all hitting the whip and nae nae at some point when it came out!

Legalizing gay marriage: The U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in all 50 states for all Americans, no matter their gender or sexual orientation, on June 26. This day made many people happy and will be remembered forever.

USA women’s soccer team: The U.S. women’s soccer team returned to greatness in Canada this year and won the third U.S. World Cup title. In July, our team survived Germany and then defeated Japan in the finals and claimed their prize.

“Im so glad this was a highlight because I feel like the U.S. women’s soccer team is underestimated and shows women can make it big just like men,” says sophomore Katie Gallagher.

Kanye for president: At the MTV Video Music Awards on August 30, Kanye West informed everyone on live television that he would be running for president in 2020. Although he admitted that he was under the influence when he said that, it will still be one of the most memorable moments of this year.

Adele: Hello! It’s Adele. After not hearing from her for four years, we finally got a taste. Adele has made her comeback this year with her newest single “Hello”. After releasing the single on October 23, she blessed the world with her powerful yet emotional second album “25”.

John Cena: For the past three months, users across Vine, YouTube and Twitter have taken popular scenes from movies, TV shows and more and added their own twist to the ending. They took the audio of one John Cena’s entrance videos to make their content funnier. Just make sure your volume is not all the way up when you hear one of the videos…JOHN CENA!

Star Wars: I think we can all agree that this was the perfect way to end 2015. Star Wars fans have waited 10 years for the seventh movie to come out, and they finally got it. On December 18, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” came out and had the best box office opening weekend ever with an estimated $238 million in the U.S.
