The Seattle Seahawks played the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay packers played the Washington Redskins on Sunday, January 10, 2016 in two of the most action-packed games during the NFL’s postseason.

More than 50,000 football fans toughened up and withstood the frigid cold weather for the Seahawks and Vikings playoff game in Minneapolis. Luckily, free hand warmers and coffee were provided for the fans at the stadium.

The temperature at TFC Bank Stadium was -6 degrees Fahrenheit, making it one of the coldest games in Vikings’ history and tying for the third-coldest playoff game in NFL history.

The frigid temperatures not only affected the fans, but it also took a major toll on the players. Blair Walsh missed a 27-yard field goal, sealing the Vikings’ 10-9 loss in the NFC wild-card game Sunday.

“This game was a complete disappointment to say the least, and it unfortunately caused me to lose five dollars in a bet,” says sophomore Brian Thomas.

Despite all shame fans are putting on Walsh, a group first graders at Northpoint Elementary School wrote letters to Walsh telling him they were big fans and to stay positive, claiming that everybody makes mistakes.

Walsh thanked the class who sent him nice letters with a visit on Thursday, January 14, 2016.

Later that day, the Washington Redskins hosted the Green Bay Packers in Maryland.

For Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the Green Bay Packers’ offense, the first quarter of their playoff game Sunday looked similar to the stagnant way their regular season wound down – not much progress or points.

“At first, I thought the Redskins were going to win even after halftime when they were losing but when the Packers came back, I knew there was no shot,” says sophomore Mekhi Abbott.

However, when the second quarter arrived, so did the Packers. In one of the most shocking turns in recent club games, Green Bay completely dominated the rest of the way for a well-deserved 35-18 triumph over the Redskins.

Much of the Packers’ success this game was all thanks to their running game with Eddie Lacy and the fleet-footed James Starks, both of whom average 4.1 yards per carry. Unfortunately, Washington had vulnerabilities when it came to stopping the run.

Overall, this day in football might have disappointed many football fanatics, but all we can do is have hope for the upcoming games.

What was your attitude toward both of the games from Sunday night?
