Manchester United on May 3 has officially fired their long time coach and it comes to no suprise to many of their fans. The team kept dropping in the league and many understand that change was nessary.
Manchester United have sacked Louis van Gaal just two days after the Dutchman led them to victory over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final.
Van Gaal, who has been given a £5million pay-off on top of £400,000 for winning the FA Cup, has been made to pay for United’s poor Premier League campaign.
Freshman Neal Prabu said,” I think this was very expected, the performance of the club was only dwindling and it made sense that they are deciding to change up their managing in a crucial way. I personally think the coach was also over paid so he should be happy he wasn’t taken away sooner. Hopefully this means better things for the future of the club.”
Van Gaal, along with: Albert Stuivenberg – assistant coach , Frans Hoek – goalkeeping coach, Max Reckers – performance analyst, Ed Woodward arrived at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex ahead of talks with Van Gaal on Monday morning.
The United executive vice-chairman informed Van Gaal he will no longer continue as manager as they look to appoint Mourinho as his successor.
Van Gaal arrived at Carrington at around 8.45am. His entire coaching staff were also present as they learned their fate.
The 64-year-old was pictured waving goodbye as he left United’s training ground base for what could be the last time on Monday afternoon.
Van Gaal’s trusted performance analyst Max Reckers, who caused friction within the Manchester United family, has also been shown the Old Trafford exit door.
Manchester United has hired Jose Mourinho as its new manager, with his old La Liga rival Pep Guardiola having already been appointed by neighbor Manchester City.
Mourinho and Guardiola had a volatile relationship during their time in charge of Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively and now they will renew that rivalry next season.
The Portuguese, whose appointment was confirmed by United on Friday, succeeds Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.
“To become Manchester United manager is a special honor in the game,” Mourinho said in a statement. “It is a club known and admired throughout the world. There is a mystique and a romance about it which no other club can match.”
Dutchman Van Gaal was released Monday, only two days after his team had won the FA Cup final at Wembley to lift United’s first major trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013.
But he failed to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League as the club finished fifth in the Premier League.
Freshman Sahil Patel said,”I think Jose Mourinho would be a perfect coach for the club. He found much sucess at Chelsea and I expect him to show this fallen legend of a club victory once again. He seems passionate about what he is doing and I hope he is the key to Manchesters sucess.”
Overall people support Manchesters decision and hope that it will bring the soccer team back to its golden days
What new methods do you think the new club will implement?
